Investopedia: Best Short Term Stock Screener, 2024
The short answer: For most people, our pick is Trade Ideas, because its live Trading Room is free and the software needs no setup. The best choice still depends on which part of Warrior Trading you use. For small-cap training with a scanner, StocksToTrade. For news-driven trading, Benzinga Pro. For charts, TradingView. Trade Ideas makes one of the tools on this page.
This page is on Trade Ideas' own website. See our Trade Ideas vs Warrior Trading page for a head-to-head view.
Warrior Trading is an education company. It sells courses, memberships and a chat room built around Ross Cameron's trading.
Its software is Day Trade Dash. Warrior describes it as "the same tools that expert trader Ross Cameron uses each and every day." It has 24 preset scanners, TradingView-powered charts with 10-second charts and a curated news feed. Real-time market data is included.
Warrior says it "works, right out of the box." A web simulator with Level 2 is sold with it or on its own. For a student who wants lessons and live trading to line up, that is a tidy package.
For the full software comparison, see Trade Ideas vs Warrior Trading and Trade Ideas vs Day Trade Dash.

Best for learning live, free, with pro tools
Trade Ideas pairs a free live room with stock market software that needs no setup. The Trade Ideas Trading Room is led by Barrie Einarson, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 3:30pm ET.
Replaces: The chat room, Day Trade Dash scanners and the simulator.
Beyond the presets. The Trade Ideas help documents 310 alerts and 249 filters, and you can run any alert with any set of filters, each with its own min and max. Small-cap momentum is covered, and so is the rest of the open: opening range breakouts and breakdowns over 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, 30 and 60 minutes (start with the 5-minute breakout), the bearish opening power bar, and pullback signals like the 5-minute 1-2-3 buy setup. 191 alerts also let you tune the alert itself, such as the minimum move in dollars on Running Up Now. Count only one alert and two filters and you reach over 9.5 million possible pairings; the scans you can build are effectively unlimited.
Worth knowing: The Trading Room is a live room, not a structured course. Trade Ideas covers US-listed stocks. Once you are past the basics, TI Premium opens up OddsMaker, Holly AI Signals and Money Machine Auto Trading.
Learn to build your own. Start by asking the AI Assistant for a scan, then try the no-code menu of 310 alerts and 249 filters, and later write a filter of your own in the Formula Editor. Once you move to TI Premium, OddsMaker checks what you make against past events, and Holly signals arrive during each session with their entry, stop and target.
Best fit: Beginners who want the premium experience and a live room at no cost. Experienced traders who want to build and test their own scans fit too.
